Traditional confectioneries of Sri Lanka
We have most of our delicious confectionaries (sweets) that are unique to Sri Lanka. The uniqueness of these sweets are unique to our tradition. On any special occasion in Sri Lanka, confectioneries is not be missed. As the new year approaches, adults get ready to prepare for this.
Most confectioneries are made from grains such as rice flour, green gram flour, pea flour, and sesame seeds. They add honey, sugar, Cashews, and jaggery to make them more palatable. Also, these sweets can be stored for a long time without spoiling. Confectioneries are mentioned in books even in the time of the ancient kings of Sri Lanka. Kawum, Kokis, Mung Kawum, Pani Walalu are deep fried in oil. Most people in the modern generation don't know how to make these sweets. These sweets reflect the culture of our country.
